Problem: | Users are modifying their database connections using invalid credentials. Is there a way to keep the database configuration wizard from appearing when connections are lost? |
Fix: | In order to lock the Primavera P5/P6 database connection aliases so they can not be modified by end users, Windows security rights to the files and registry keys that store the alias information will need to be restricted for the end users. 1) Verify the Windows security permissions for the Borland DBExpress DBXConnections.ini file. Set the security permissions for the end users to allow only READ access to this file. 2) Verify the permissions for the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Primavera\Databases Using REGEDIT (Start, Run type ‘regedit’), by right-clicking and choosing “permissions”, sent the permission for end users to READ
Restricting access to the DBXConnections.ini file and Registry keys for the alias will have the following effect: - If users try to modify the Alias they will receive the following error:
- If users try to Delete a configuration Alias from the login window they will receive the following dialog box. Clicking YES causes the dialog box to go away but the alias is not removed from the Login Screen or the Registry keys:
