When a layout is Grouped, Sorted or Filtered by a Project-specific activity code, other projects opened in the layout display no activities.

Problem: When a layout is Grouped, Sorted or Filtered by a Project-specific activity code, other projects opened in the layout display no activities.
Problem: Project level activity are lost after copying and pasting activities
Problem: Project level activity codes lost after copying a project.
Problem: Project level activity codes lost after importing a project.
Cause: A Project-specific activity code has a project-specific internal ID. It may only be used to Group or Filter activities within that project.
Fix: This issue is an existing Enhancement Request. It will be considered for a future release
Fix:

A Project-specific activity code is meaningless in any other project (even a copy of the same project) and therefore can not be used to select activities in other projects even if other projects have a similarly named Project-specific activity code.

Project-specific activity codes should only be used when opening one project at a time.

Workarounds:

  • If this code is to be used to Group, Sort or Filter in multiple projects, make the activity code a Global activity code.

1.  Go to Enterprise, Activities codes and select the Project radio button.
2.  Click the Modify button.

3.  Highlight the Project-specific activity code and click on the “Make Global” button.

4.  You will need to recreate all of the Group, Sort and Filter specifications to use the Global code versus the Project-specific code.

Note: All activities in the project assigned to the Project-specific activity code that was made into a Global code will now be assigned to the Global code.  If other projects have a similarly named Project-specific activity code, those activities will need to be reassigned to the Global activity code. We recommend Global Change to accomplish this.

  • If a Project-specific activity code with the same name exists in more than one project, and you wish to keep the activity codes at the project level, you will need a separate selection statement for each project-level activity code.

For example, the Project-specific activity code “test to make global” exists in two different projects (one project was a copy of the other project).  When both projects are open, to filter activities in both projects that have a value of “yes”, two filter statements are required. Notice that the code “test to make global” is listed twice – once for each project.
