Problem: How to organize by Activity Code?
Problem: How to group activities by phase, responsibility or area?
Problem: How to define / add activity codes, phases, responsibilities or areas?

Fix: The following guide walks users through the steps to understand the basics of, and use, Activity Codes.

Activity codes can be used to organize / group activities in a project according to their respective phase, responsibility, location, etc…



  1. Define Activity Codes
     


  • Please reference pages 178 – 182 of the SureTrak User’s Guide:“Creating an Activity Codes Dictionary” & “Defining Code Values”
     

  • Click: Define, Activity Codes to open the Activity Codes dictionary.
     


    • The ‘Codes’ are the general categories in which ‘Values’ are listed. 
      Ex: Phase, Responsibility, Area, Building, etc..
       

    • The ‘Values’ are the specific: phases / responsibilities / areas / buildings / etc.. that will be assigned to individual activities.
      Ex: Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, …, Lou, James, Brad, …., Building A, Building B, Building 3, etc..

  • In the ‘Name’ column, highlight the existing (or add the new) code whose values are to be managed below.
      


    • If necessary, adjust the ‘Length’ value.  This determines the maximum number of characters allowed in a value name, within the respective code.
       

  • In the ‘Value’ column, list each of the values for the code highlighted above (in the ‘Codes’ section).
     


    • NOTE: For more information about the ‘Order’ column, either:
       


      • Click: Help

  • Click: Close
     

  • Organize the layout to display by Activity Code(s)
     


    • Please reference pages 206 & 207 of the SureTrak User’s Guide: “Grouping Activities in the Bar Chart”
       

  • Assign Activity Codes to activities
     


    • Please reference either of the following:

    NOTE:  Header bars do not appear until at least one activity has been assigned to that Activity Code.


    NOTE:  Activities not yet assigned a Activity Code will be grouped at the bottom of the schedule under a blank colored band.  These are referred to as ‘Uncategorized Activities.’
