Problem: How to create a report showing activities that were delayed or behind schedule?
Fix:

  1. (WHERE APPLICABLE)
If target dates are not defined yet, open the original / unprogressed version of the schedule and follow the steps detailed in 2002130115134 - ”How to import early dates from a baseline schedule into a production schedule as target dates” to baseline the updated schedule.

  2. With target dates defined in the updated schedule, enable the ‘TARGET’ layout.
(other layouts are acceptable; however, it’s advised that you enable at least the ‘Target Finish’, ‘Actual Finish’ and ‘Finish Variance’ columns.

NOTE:  Finish variance:  The difference between the target finish date and the currently calculated early (or actual) finish date: Target Finish – Early (or Actual) Finish.

The finish variance shows the amount of time by which an activity is early or late, compared to the original plan. A positive finish variance indicates that it is currently scheduled ahead of the plan; a negative finish variance means it is now scheduled after its target dates.

  3. (OPTIONAL)
Create a filter (called ‘LATE’), as detailed in the following graphic, showing only activities with negative finish variance values:

  4. (OPTIONAL)
Create a report using the LATE filter and TARGET layout.
