Problem: In Project Management, is it possible to run a timescale logic diagram for reports as can be done in P3?
Problem: How to simulate a Timescaled Logic Diagram?
Problem: How to collapse bars to grouping bands
Problem: Print multiple activities per line
Fix: Timescale Logic in Project Management is available in a layout using the Collapsed Bars feature in Bar Chart Options.
Fix: This issue is an existing Enhancement Request.  It will be considered for a future release
Fix:

Timescaled logic diagrams present the overall logic of a project according to time.In Project Management, the timescale logic diagram has been added by adding a feature called Collapsed Bars.Collapsed bars can be found in the Bar Chart Options dialog on the Collapsed Bars tab.

Collapse to grouping band

This option is equivalent to double clicking on a band to summarize the group.

When selecting this feature, there is an option for showing relationship lines from a collapsed bar to other collapsed bars and/or individual bars. When drawing relationships from one collapsed bar to another collapsed bar, Project Management will draw multiple lines to and from the bars so users can continue to click on a relationship line and find the predecessor/successor information.

Collapse to individual bars to minimize space

When collapsing to individual bars, individual bars should be moved vertically upward as far as they can go to the top of the grouping band, without overlapping the bar above or next to it, under the correct timescale date.

?SPAN style=”FONT: 7pt ‘Times New Roman’”>         Each bar under the group band should be shown with its text label and relationship lines (If relationship option is selected).

?SPAN style=”FONT: 7pt ‘Times New Roman’”>         A bar should move to the next line down when it overlaps bars or text labels (based on selected options).

?SPAN style=”FONT: 7pt ‘Times New Roman’”>         Text can overlap text when set to allow overlapping.

?SPAN style=”FONT: 7pt ‘Times New Roman’”>         Bars can overlap text when set to allow overlapping.

?SPAN style=”FONT: 7pt ‘Times New Roman’”>         Notebook topics will not show when collapsing bars.

?SPAN style=”FONT: 7pt ‘Times New Roman’”>         When showing multiple bars, these bars will also be collapsed and displayed.

?SPAN style=”FONT: 7pt ‘Times New Roman’”>         Adjusting the timescale will redraw the bars according to the new space.

Ability to move bars vertically

When bars are collapsed to individual bars, bars can be moved vertically.Bars will not be allowed to move out of the WBS node they are currently in.Moving a bar on top of another bar, will force the bars in the current position to move.Bars cannot overlap when moved vertically. All relationship lines, text, etc. will be moved with bar and continue to work as normal.

Placement of bars will not be saved with the layout. They will be remembered during the session, but can be lost if move to a different view and then come back to the Activities view.

Text placement

There will be one option for text placement:Allow overlapping of bar labels. If this option is selected, the bar will be moved vertically upward as far as it can go without regard to text.

If this option is not selected, the bar will be moved vertically upward as far as it can go, without overwriting/overlapping other bars or text labels.A bar should move to the next line down when it overlaps bars or text labels.

Note:  The bars do not automatically collapse.  The available options are found in the View menu.  They are Expand All, Collapse All and Collapse To.   ‘Collapse To’ allows to collapse to a specific
